Realme has announced extended software support for the 16 Pro series in India, following an earlier rollout of similar benefits in European markets. The company confirmed the phones will now receive four years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches, increasing from the original three-year software update promise at launch.

Since the Realme 16 Pro lineup launched with Android 16, the devices are now eligible to receive updates up to Android 20. The phones feature a 7,000mAh battery and a 200MP primary rear camera, launched in India last month with the extended support plan now in place for consumers in the region.

Consumers in Europe will receive even better software support with five years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches. This extension reflects Realme's efforts to compete with manufacturers offering longer software support periods, addressing consumer concerns about device longevity in an increasingly competitive market.
