OnePlus Pad 4: Slim, Slightly Better, Still a Close Call

OnePlus launches its fourth tablet, the Pad 4, in a minimalist red‑white case that feels familiar yet refined. The 5.94 mm chassis keeps the device slim, while the bulk of the height comes from an 80 W fast charger and cable. Inside, the layout mirrors last year’s design, but the battery swells to 13,380 mAh from 12,140 mAh.

Under the hood, OnePlus swaps the Snapdragon 8 Elite for a Gen 5 variant and ups the cooling plate to a 45,260 mm² vapor chamber, a 30 % increase. Storage stays at 256 GB or 512 GB, now on UFS 4.1, while RAM options shrink to 8 GB or 12 GB LPDDR5X, a downgrade that may hurt multitasking.

The display gains a modest 100 nits of brightness, but other components remain largely unchanged: cameras, speakers, and connectivity. OnePlus also introduces a new stylus, the Stylo Pro, with interchangeable tips for writing and drawing, and a redesigned Smart Keyboard that replaces the split‑kickstand layout with a hinged laptop‑style chassis.

With these incremental upgrades, the Pad 4 stays in the premium Android tablet bracket but offers limited differentiation from its predecessor. Consumers looking for a significant performance boost or higher RAM will find the device underwhelming, while the new accessories may entice users who prefer stylus or keyboard workflows.
