OnePlus Pad 4 review: great hardware, weak ecosystem

After three weeks with the OnePlus Pad 4, the verdict is mixed. The tablet delivers on battery life and multitasking but stumbles on ecosystem support. It packs a 13,380mAh battery with 80W charging and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, handling heavy workloads without breaking a sweat. Yet Android tablet app support remains a problem—developers still don't prioritize the platform the way they do iPads.

The 13.2-inch IPS LCD panel carries over from last year. Colors and contrast lag behind OLED panels, though Dolby Vision and a 144Hz refresh rate help. At 5.9mm thin with an aluminum unibody, the tablet feels premium but the large battery makes it heavy. One notable regression: the base model now starts at 8GB RAM, down from 12GB on the previous generation.

OnePlus Open Canvas multitasking runs three apps side by side on the large display, and standby drain held at 68% after four days without use. The hardware is genuinely strong. But the Android tablet ecosystem's gaps—pro creative apps and AAA games still lacking compared to iPad—hold this tablet back.
