Microsoft has announced the Surface Laptop Ultra at Computex 2026, positioning it as a direct competitor to Apple's MacBook Pro. The device features Nvidia's RTX Spark system on a chip with up to 20 ARM CPU cores, 128GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and a Blackwell GPU equivalent to an RTX 5070, delivering 80W of power.

The Surface Laptop Ultra boasts 2.5x better thermal performance than its predecessor, making it Microsoft's most powerful laptop yet. The 15-inch MiniLED Ultra screen delivers 2,000 nits peak brightness in HDR mode, while the 2kg weight matches Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Microsoft has addressed key MacBook Pro limitations by including a replaceable SSD and Windows Hello face recognition. The port selection surpasses Apple's flagship with three USB-C ports, HDMI, SD card reader, audio jack, and even a USB-A port.

Pricing estimates range from $3,000 to $7,000 when maxed with 128GB RAM and 2-4TB storage. The Surface Laptop Ultra will launch this fall, targeting professionals who need Windows ecosystem performance with premium hardware specifications.
