A TechPowerUp forum user, Fouquin, has posted an in-depth review of the unreleased Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra, featuring the NVIDIA RTX Spark Arm-based SoC. Fouquin claims to have found the device on the roadside, assuming it was trash.

Despite not being an official review, Fouquin conducted thorough testing using the Phoronix test suite. After updating drivers to NVIDIA preview version 616.00, CUDA support was enabled for the Blackwell GPU. The tested Spark SoC variant includes 6,144 cores and a 20-core CPU.

Performance, however, reportedly lags behind devices like Apple's M5 Pro MacBooks and other x86 platforms. Power consumption varied, with idle power ranging from 7-8 W to 23 W depending on the mode. Cinebench scores were noted, with the CPU achieving 1,386 points (multicore) in Cinebench 2024. GPU performance remained consistent on battery and when plugged in. Thermal performance showed CPU cores reaching up to 44-50 W under load, with fans activating after throttling. The review also highlighted the laptop's good build quality, keyboard, and camera-based wake-up features.
