iQOO is reportedly preparing to launch the iQOO 16 in September, according to a new rumor from China. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) claims the device will feature a 165Hz refresh rate screen, an upgrade from the 144Hz panel found on the iQOO 15. The display is expected to be a 6.85" flat 2K panel sourced from Samsung, with minimal changes to the rounded corners and bezels.

DCS also notes that the iQOO 16 will sport a redesigned camera module — small, square-shaped, and positioned in the upper-left corner of the back panel. Powering the device is rumored to be the unannounced 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975) SoC. Other tipped features include an 8,500 mAh battery, 100W wired charging, wireless charging, and an IP68/69 rating.

Additional specifications include a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, a dedicated graphics chip (possibly the Supercomputing Chip Q4), and a primary camera being tested with a 50MP Omni Vision OV50Q sensor. Notably, DCS states that the iQOO 16 will not include a cooling fan, contrary to some expectations.
