Here’s a recap of this past week’s top stories. Huawei previewed its Huawei Pura X featuring a 6.39-inch OLED and a wide 16:9.5 aspect ratio. This is a proper wide boy, with Huawei advertising its expanded horizontal real estate for more immersive reading, gaming and other content consumption. We did not get its full spec sheet yet, but we did get confirmation of a sizeable 7,000mAh battery despite the phone’s relatively slim 6.68mm profile. It’s set to arrive on August 28, featuring 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Rumors suggest it will also feature the Kirin 9030s chip from the Pura 90 Pro series and three 50MP cameras.

In Apple leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be the sole device featuring a variable aperture camera once it launches next month. We also got word of the Apple A20 Pro chip’s performance. It will reportedly use TSMC's new Gate-All-Around (GAA) process and offer 18% faster performance than the outgoing A19 Pro. Redmi Note 17 Pro is set to launch next week (August 27) with a massive 10,000mAh battery. The Fairphone 6+ is now official, featuring 12GB RAM and a newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip at the helm compared to its predecessor. The sustainable device also gets a new Cobalt Blue color option and retails for $649/€649.

In other news, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra is rumored to be canceled, with the 18 Pro serving as the top of Xiaomi’s lineup. In related news, vivo’s upcoming X500 Ultra and Oppo’s Find X10 Ultra may not see a global launch. We got even more specs for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 FE. It will be equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED (FHD+ 120Hz), an Exynos 2500 chipset, a 4,900mAh battery and a 50MP (main)+12MP(ultrawide)+8MP(telephoto) camera setup on the back. Last but not least, Sony is launching a new phone rumored to be the Xperia 10 VIII next week (August 25).
