Samsung's upcoming foldable line reshuffles its naming: the device previously teased as “Galaxy Fold Wide” will launch as the Galaxy Z Fold8, while the true successor to last year’s Z Fold7 becomes the Z Fold8 Ultra. The shift, confirmed in May, signals a clearer split between a standard‑size fold and a premium, larger‑screen variant, setting expectations ahead of the July reveal.

The Z Fold8 sports a 7.6‑inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and QHD+ resolution, complemented by a 5.5‑inch cover screen at 16:10, both QHD+. Its rear camera array trims back to a dual 50MP setup—main f/1.8 and ultrawide f/1.9—while a 10MP f/2.2 selfie sensor sits behind the cover. Power comes from a 4,800 mAh cell supporting 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.

Under the hood, Samsung pairs the handset with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, up to 12 GB RAM and a massive 1 TB of internal storage. At 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7 mm folded and 123.9 × 161.4 × 4.5 mm unfolded, it adds thickness over the Z Fold7 but trims weight to 201 g. The slimmer profile and larger main screen aim to attract consumers seeking a more portable yet premium foldable experience.
