Apple is preparing to launch an entry-level MacBook in March, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The low-cost laptop will feature Apple's A18 Pro chip and an LCD display, targeting consumers who want an affordable Mac without sacrificing build quality. The device, codenamed J700, will retail for under $1000.

Despite its lower price point, Apple reportedly won't compromise on construction, using an aluminum chassis made with a new manufacturing process that's faster and more cost-effective. The company has tested multiple color finishes including blue, silver, dark grey, light green, pink, and light yellow, though only a select few will likely reach store shelves.

This move represents Apple's strategy to expand its MacBook lineup with more accessible options while maintaining its premium reputation.
