Nintendo unveiled Xenoblade Genesis, the next mainline entry in its acclaimed action RPG series, during the latest Nintendo Direct stream. The game launches in 2027 with a brand-new story set in an uncharted world, featuring a protagonist who attends a magic academy reminiscent of Final Fantasy VIII. While details remain scarce, Nintendo promises additional information as the release date approaches.

The company also announced Switch 2 editions for all three existing Xenoblade Chronicles titles. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Switch 2 Edition is available now for $64, offering 4K resolution on television displays and full HD in handheld mode. These enhanced versions include high-speed vehicles, expanded voice acting, and redesigned equipment alongside other improvements. Existing owners can purchase upgrade packs to access the enhanced content.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 arrives on Switch 2 on July 30, followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on December 3. Xenoblade Chronicles X already received its Switch 2 upgrade earlier this year. The franchise began with a Wii release in 2010 and has built a reputation for expansive open-world gameplay spanning dozens of hours.

These releases demonstrate Nintendo's commitment to both preserving its RPG catalog and advancing the series forward. With enhanced visuals and new content for existing titles plus a fresh mainline entry on the horizon, fans have substantial gameplay ahead.
