xAI Rebrands as Space XAI

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence venture, formerly known as xAI, has officially rebranded as Space XAI. This change follows the merger of xAI with Musk's aerospace company, SpaceX, announced five months prior. The new branding, including a logo, was revealed on X, the social media platform now also under the Space XAI umbrella.

The strategic shift stems from Musk's assertion that terrestrial solutions cannot meet the global electricity demand for AI. Space XAI plans to address this by constructing data centers in orbit, a concept that predates the merger. The company had already filed an application with the FCC to launch a million satellites for this purpose.

The integration extends to the X social network, acquired by xAI in 2025. Space X, along with xAI and X, recently went public, with stocks closing at $161, valuing the combined entity at $2.1 trillion. While official filings are pending, the Space XAI website now reflects the new name and logo, signaling a unified front for Musk's AI and space endeavors.
