Vertical placement saves space but is less stable, while horizontal offers a lower center of gravity and better stability. The old belief that disc drives require horizontal orientation is outdated; modern consoles read discs in either position.

Sony recommends keeping the PS5 at least four inches from walls. If the console overheats, check for dust or blocked vents. Cleaning the exterior is safe, but opening the console further may void the warranty.
