Less than a week after Valve admitted that RAM shortages and rising prices were affecting its hardware plans, the Steam Deck is completely sold out. The 256GB Steam Deck LCD, along with both the 512GB and 1TB models of the Steam Deck OLED, are unavailable on Steam. Valve had previously announced it would discontinue LCD versions by December 2025, making the 256GB model's sellout expected, but the simultaneous unavailability of all OLED variants is unusual.

Valve's recent admission about memory and storage shortages pushing back other hardware launches like the Steam Machine and Steam Frame raised questions about whether the Steam Deck would be similarly affected. The company notably left pricing and availability off the table for those products, presumably due to RAM access issues. Framework announced in January it was raising its Framework Desktop prices by as much as $460 due to the same memory crisis, while analysts warn the AI-driven shortage could trigger higher prices and economic downturn across the PC industry.

Engadget has reached out to Valve for comment on the Steam Deck's availability. While the sellout could be temporary, the timing amid the broader RAM crisis suggests the handheld gaming device may face similar challenges to Valve's other hardware projects. If current trends continue, changes to the Steam Deck lineup likely won't be off the table.
