Ukraine has begun sharing its battlefield data with allies to train AI models for drone warfare, marking a strategic shift in how the country leverages its four-year conflict with Russia. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the initiative, emphasizing that artificial intelligence represents a critical front in the technological competition against Moscow.

Fedorov previewed this move in January when he pledged to bring allies more actively into Ukraine's defense projects. The country's extensive battlefield data has become one of its most valuable assets, with foreign partners and companies seeking access as AI integration becomes increasingly central to modern warfare. Ukraine has developed a secure platform that trains partners' AI models without exposing sensitive information.

The system provides continually updating datasets including photos and videos from actual combat operations. For Ukraine, this represents a "win-win cooperation" where partners gain real-world training data while Ukraine accelerates development of autonomous systems and frontline technological solutions. This initiative comes amid warnings from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the dangerous escalation of drone technology and AI in warfare, describing the current arms race as the most destructive in human history.
