Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's defense minister, declared the nation will release millions of drone videos and battlefield data to companies and allies to train artificial intelligence models, aiming to outpace Russia technologically. This move, while boosting A. I. capabilities for targeting, has drawn criticism from the International Committee of the Red Cross due to ethical concerns over using genuine footage showing attacks on people.

Fedorov emphasized the necessity of this step, stating, 'We must outperform Russia in every technological cycle' and highlighting AI as a key competitive arena. The data, including surveillance and attack footage, will be managed by a defense innovation center, not shared with companies, though they can use it for model training. Ukraine has already deployed this data internally within its Delta battlefield computer system.
