Anker Solix is one example of hardware available for this market. However, experts recommend checking home electrical systems first to ensure compatibility and safety. The government capped inverter output at 800 watts to prevent overloading the power grid, meaning users cannot rely on maximum panel wattage.

While the modest hardware costs and DIY-friendly installation are encouraging, caution is advised to avoid electrical issues. Germany has long served as a model for this policy, having implemented similar "balcony power plant" regulations in 2019. Over 1.2 million Germans have already adopted plug-in solar, proving the concept's viability for renters and apartment dwellers.

The UK's previous ban on non-professional solar installations was lifted as part of a broader clean energy push by the Labour government, which aims to triple solar generation by 2030.
