TP-Link has announced the Archer 8, the company's first Wi-Fi 8 router platform built around the emerging IEEE 802.11bn specification. Scheduled for October 2026, this new router shifts focus from theoretical peak speeds to ultra-high reliability for increasingly dense home environments. The product aims to address common frustrations like inconsistent speeds across rooms and unstable mesh roaming.

Lab testing shows Archer 8 delivers significant improvements over Wi-Fi 7, including up to 33% higher throughput through enhanced modulation, 24% better performance with varying signal quality, and 30% improved signal performance in multi-floor environments. The router combines advanced thermal engineering, antenna architecture, and AI-assisted network intelligence for more stable real-world performance.

The Archer 8 launches a broader Wi-Fi 8 portfolio from TP-Link, including the Deco 8 mesh system (Q1 2027), Roam 8 travel router (Q2 2027), and range extenders. With minimalist design featuring micro ridge texturing and precision contours, Archer 8 represents what TP-Link calls "the industry's earliest and most complete consumer Wi-Fi 8 rollout strategies announced to date."
