Threads Adds New Parental Controls

Threads is rolling out new Parental Supervision features next week, allowing parents and guardians to monitor their teenagers' activity on the platform. These tools will provide insights into the time teens spend on the app and enable guardians to set time limits and schedule 'sleep mode' hours. Additionally, the features will allow adults to restrict the types of tags a teen can see and implement other privacy and content settings.

The Parental Supervision tools are designed to work alongside existing restrictions for all teen accounts on Threads. Adults can access these new features through Meta's Family Center hub, which is also beginning its rollout next week. Meta has a long-standing commitment to ensuring young users can engage with its products safely, a priority that predates its rebranding to Meta.

Recent initiatives from Meta include sharing discussions teens have with Meta AI with their guardians and implementing measures on Instagram to limit exposure to potentially harmful content. These efforts underscore Meta's ongoing dedication to child safety across its social media platforms.
