Starlink V5 Dish: Smaller, Lighter, Energy‑Efficient

SpaceX’s latest Starlink V5 residential dish is now shipping in select U.S. regions, but only with the company’s entry‑level $55 per month plan. While it doesn’t raise data rates, the new unit brings several practical gains over the 2023 V4 model. The V5 is lighter—just 2.4 lb versus 6.5 lb—and smaller, measuring 5.12 × 12.05 × 1.34 in compared to the V4’s 23.4 × 15.1 × 1.5 in. Power usage drops to 35‑50 W from the V4’s 75‑100 W, easing installation and reducing electricity costs. Connectivity remains solid, with a slightly lower maximum speed of 375+ Mbps versus 400+ Mbps for the pool.

The dish ships bundled with the Router Mini and a “pipe adapter” for rooftop mounting. In Drummond, Montana, it is offered exclusively with the cheapest 100 Mbps plan; higher‑tier plans still receive the V4 with the more capable Router 3. Elon Musk highlighted the new terminal in a recent X video, noting a planned larger production run. Starlink also announced a mid‑2027 Mobile network and a $2,000 Performance dish for gigabit speeds.
