Sony says it has secured enough RAM for all the PS5s it expects to sell this year, addressing the ongoing "Ramageddon" memory shortage. In its latest earnings report, the company stated it has the quantity of memory necessary to meet projected sales volume for fiscal year 2026 ending April 2027. Sony did not indicate whether it will raise PS5 prices again.

The announcement comes ahead of a potential holiday sales boost from GTA 6, set to launch on November 19th. For the first quarter of this fiscal year, Sony sold 1.6 million PS5 consoles, down from 2.5 million in the same period last year. Cumulative shipments since the console’s June 2020 launch now total 95.3 million units.

Despite the dip in unit sales, Sony’s profit rose 37 percent to 54.1 billion yen ($337 million) thanks to US tariff refunds and favorable foreign exchange rates. Game sales were flat, with third‑party revenue up but first‑party shipments down by 900,000 units. PlayStation monthly active users increased by 2 million to reach 125 million.
