Samsung will this month start deploying HDR10+ Advanced on its 2026 TVs for supported shows and movies on Prime Video. The company co-developed the latest version of the HDR10+ image quality format and unveiled it last November before demoing the tech at CES in January.

The first main feature is Enhanced Overall Brightness, which taps into "extended statistical metadata" to squeeze more from newer displays' brightness, offering "brighter, more precise HDR across the full tonal range." AI-powered tone mapping helps viewers see shadow details in darker scenes while delivering "heightened brightness" for action movies and sports.

The second feature is Intelligent Motion Smoothing, using "scene-by-scene metadata to allow compatible displays to dynamically adjust motion processing." While Samsung promotes this, some argue the only intelligent use of motion smoothing is to turn it off except for sports.
