Samsung adds AI health insights ahead of Galaxy Watch launch

Samsung will begin rolling out an update to its Health app on June 8, adding generative‑AI analysis to everyday metrics. The refreshed software translates raw biometric streams—sleep, activity, heart rate—into concise guidance, and doubles as a preview of the capabilities slated for the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup.

New Vitals examines heart rate, variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen against an overnight resting baseline. Deviations trigger alerts suggesting extra rest or possible illness, an evolution of the former Energy Score. The app also upgrades Vascular Load into a Heart Health Score, blending sleep, stress, activity and body‑composition data to recommend steps or potassium‑rich foods.

Daily Cardio Load now proposes optimal workout intensity and recovery based on individual profiles, while Fitness Index benchmarks steps, heart rate and VO2 max against peers, then sets personalized endurance or strength targets. Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2, expected at the July Unpacked event, will unlock the full suite, tightening hardware‑software synergy.

By converting raw health data into actionable scores, Samsung aims to differentiate its ecosystem from rivals that rely on third‑party analytics. Consumers get a unified view across phones and wearables, potentially reducing the need for separate fitness apps. The AI‑driven approach also signals Samsung’s bet on on‑device processing to protect privacy while delivering real‑time insights.
