Rabbit is developing Project Cyberdeck, a modern take on the netbook designed specifically for vibe coding. The company's CEO, Jesse Lyu, was inspired to create the device after seeing how much his engineers relied on Claude Code. Unlike NVIDIA's $3,999 DGX Spark, Rabbit's goal is to build an affordable, portable machine that makes on-the-go AI-assisted coding more practical.

Drawing inspiration from the Sony Vaio P netbook of 2009, Rabbit aims to price the Cyberdeck around $500 - significantly less than the Vaio P's original $900 price tag (about $1,365 today). The device will feature a 40 percent keyboard with low-profile mechanical switches, a 7-inch OLED screen, and run Linux with full command-line access to RabbitOS features. Early renders suggest a design reminiscent of the Rabbit R1, Vaio P, and original Nintendo DS.

While many details remain undecided, including the final chipset and RAM configuration, Rabbit hopes to ship the Cyberdeck in 2026. The company faces challenges from the current high-bandwidth memory shortage affecting the entire tech industry. Whether developers will embrace carrying a dedicated coding device remains uncertain, especially as companies like Apple integrate vibe coding tools directly into their development environments.
