Poncle expands with new studios and 15-plus games

Poncle, the indie studio behind the hit Vampire Survivors, disclosed plans to open two satellite studios—one in Japan and another in Italy—while juggling more than 15 projects in development. Chief strategy officer Matteo Sapio said the pipeline spans spinoffs, brand‑new IPs and roguelite adaptations of existing franchises, signaling an aggressive expansion beyond its flagship title, while maintaining its indie ethos.

The current slate includes the deck‑builder Vampire Crawlers, released this week, two original games set in undisclosed universes, and a Warhammer‑themed roguelite dubbed Warhammer Survivors slated for a Steam launch later this year. Poncle has also built an in‑house engine that translates third‑party IPs into the fast‑paced, bullet‑hell formula that propelled the original to over 27 million players, and shows drive to leverage IPs.

Despite pausing third‑party publishing after a modest rollout last year, Sapio believes the lean, multi‑studio model will keep the operation agile and able to sustain quality across titles. Success with Vampire Crawlers suggests Poncle can replicate its formula without becoming a one‑trick studio, offering indie fans a steady stream of familiar yet fresh gameplay experiences. The approach could set a template for other indie publishers.
