The Panasonic Q, also known as the SL-GC 10, is a rare hybrid console that combines the Nintendo GameCube with a DVD player. Released in Japan in December 2001, it was created to address the PS2's built-in DVD advantage. This niche device features distinctive 2001 home-theater aesthetics, including a reflective front panel and blue-glowing ports.

The unit houses two separate systems within one chassis. The gaming side functions identically to a standard GameCube, supporting titles like Super Smash Bros. Melee. However, the DVD section includes Cinema mode, Dolby Digital, and DTS surround sound. Switching between game and movie modes requires manually powering down one system and restarting the other, rather than seamless switching.

Despite its innovative design, the Panasonic Q struggled commercially. It launched at ¥39,800, competing against the established PS2. Additionally, the unique base design prevented the use of the standard Game Boy Player accessory, requiring a modified Panasonic version. Today, due to its scarcity and Japan-only release, these units often sell for over $1,000.
