OpenAI has released a dedicated Codex coding app for Windows, bringing the same multi-agent capabilities previously available only on macOS. The software allows developers to coordinate multiple AI coding agents on shared tasks, with support for automations that streamline repetitive workflows like bug testing.

Like its macOS counterpart, the Windows version includes a dedicated "Skills" section that bundles instructions, resources and scripts to connect agents to specific tools and workflows. OpenAI has also implemented native sandboxing to create a familiar environment for Windows developers. The app is available to ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro users.

This cross-platform expansion follows OpenAI's February upgrade that added multi-agent management to Codex. The company designed the app to save session history to user accounts, enabling seamless transitions between Mac and Windows without losing work. By bringing its AI coding assistant to Windows, OpenAI is expanding access to its development tools for the platform's vast developer community.
