Play by Play Studios is set to revive the arcade feel of NBA Street with NBA The Run, slated for release on June 9. Veteran artist Mike Young, who contributed to the original series, supervised development, lending authentic flair. The title trades realistic simulation for fast‑paced 3‑v‑3 matches across global courts, promising a nostalgic yet fresh experience now.

Players advance through a four‑round Knockout Tournament before confronting a final boss on one of four specially designated courts. Three modes accommodate different playstyles: Knockout Squads pits a single player against two AI teammates, Knockout Solos lets you control an entire trio, and Knockout Friends enables private custom tournaments. Over 30 NBA stars, including Steph Curry and Luka Dončić, share the roster with fictional ballers.

NBA The Run launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam at $30, with a Deluxe Edition priced at $40 that adds three extra unlockable players and in‑game currency. Securing the official NBA license marks the first arcade‑style basketball game officially sanctioned by both the league and the Players Association, filling a niche long left vacant.
