Meta has built a prototype humanoid robot codenamed Max, designed to assist with household chores. The robot, developed with Chinese company Fourier in roughly three months, weighs roughly 106 lbs and stands about 1.5 meters tall. Externally, it features a display for facial expressions, a built-in speaker, and hands designed to pick up small objects.

Internally, Meta integrated NVIDIA's Jetson Thor chips to power the system. While no mass-market launch date has been set, Meta is already working on a second prototype, codenamed Max 2, announced in September. This iteration includes updates to the robot's torso and hand design, plus a projector and additional sensors to improve stair navigation.

Meta's robotics push began last year after Bloomberg reported the creation of a new hardware team, following which the company acquired a startup specializing in robot-specific artificial intelligence earlier this year.
