Meta Pauses Rate Limits on Conversation Focus

Meta has paused the rate limits on its Conversation Focus feature for its smart glasses, a move announced by spokesperson Tyler Yee after user feedback. The feature, which uses the glasses’ speakers to amplify the voice of the person you’re talking to, was originally free but capped at three hours per month; beyond that, users were directed to pay $20-a-month for the Meta One Premium Plan with a 15‑hour cap. The Verge first reported that Meta added limits, although the feature runs on‑device and offline, so the reason for limits is unclear.

Yee said the pause means Conversation Focus will remain freely available in the Early Access Program while Meta explores a better approach. He added that “some premium features will be subscription‑based over time,” noting that charging helps subsidize hardware costs. Meta wants to get it right before rolling out paid tiers.

For owners of the glasses, the feature is still usable for now, but its future may involve a subscription model.
