French developer Pixel Hunt is working on Ithaca, a road-trip RPG that puts players in the driver's seat of environmental activism. The studio behind the acclaimed narrative game Bury Me, My Love turns its attention to climate change themes, casting players as Penelope, a disillusioned environmental lawyer who discovers a petroleum executive tied up in her car trunk.

Penelope joins the Earth Protection Association to fight corporate polluters, but quickly becomes entangled in what appears to be an eco-terrorism plot. The game unfolds through driving sequences featuring procedurally generated landscapes including wind farms, mountain passes, and waterways, with over 30 NPCs voiced by professional actors. Players navigate text conversations and make narrative choices that determine which of seven possible endings they reach.

Studio founder Florent Maurin explained the game explores difficult questions about power, violence, and how far people will go to defend their beliefs. Rather than providing answers, Ithaca invites players to sit with these moral dilemmas from the comfort of a moving vehicle.

The title targets a 2027 release, with a Kickstarter campaign now active and Steam page available. This represents a significant shift from Pixel Hunt's previous work, combining environmental themes with interactive storytelling in an unconventional RPG format.
