Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this July 28, with early access beginning July 23 for Premium and Collector's Edition buyers. The remake includes Xbox Game Pass and cloud play support at launch, making it immediately accessible to subscribers.

This 4K recreation of the 2001 original's campaign brings updated visuals alongside weapons and mechanics from later Halo titles. The original Combat Evolved essentially defined console first-person shooters and launched Microsoft's Xbox FPS legacy. Beyond graphical improvements, Campaign Evolved introduces substantial new content that expands the experience.

Three bonus missions debut as Operation: METEORITE, a narrative arc set one year before the main events featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson aboard a Covenant research vessel. These missions add fresh locations, enemy variants, and classic series weapons. The inclusion of Operation: METEORITE gives longtime fans genuine new story content rather than just visual polish.

Releasing simultaneously across PlayStation and Xbox marks an unusual cross-platform strategy for the franchise, which spent two decades as Microsoft's exclusive property. Halo Studios appears to be positioning this remake as both nostalgia bait and a fresh entry point for newcomers.
