Halo: Campaign Evolved officially arrives July 28, 2026, following its reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase. The remake includes a new three-mission story arc called Operation: METEORITE, which takes place one year before the original Halo: Combat Evolved events. Players control Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson aboard a Covenant research vessel, facing new enemy variants like the Brute Berserker.

The expansion adds fresh locations, weapons from across the Halo series, and new gameplay mechanics to the classic sandbox. Microsoft developed Operation: METEORITE in collaboration with sci-fi author Troy Denning, known for shaping memorable corners of the Halo universe through his novels. His involvement ensures the story maintains the military sci-fi tone fans expect.

Three editions launch with the game: Standard at $49.99, Premium at $69.99, and Collector's at $199.99. All versions include the full campaign and Operation: METEORITE, while Premium and Collector's editions grant up to five days of early access starting July 23. Pre-orders include the Foundry Armory Pack with classic armor and weapon skins.

Cross-play and cross-progression work across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5. The title joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on launch day. This represents Microsoft's strategy to modernize classic franchises while expanding them with meaningful new content.
