Google unveiled Gemini integration for Chrome on Android during its Android I/O livestream, promising a rollout in June. Android users will spot a new Gemini icon in the toolbar; tapping it summons a bottom‑screen chat pane. The feature mirrors most desktop capabilities, including Nano Banana image generation and links to Calendar and Keep, bringing the AI assistant to mobile browsers.

Personal Intelligence, which pulls context from a user’s Google ecosystem, is enabled, allowing Gemini to reference emails, documents, or reminders during conversations. Auto‑browse, a function requiring an AI Pro or Ultra subscription, can execute tasks like reserving parking through SpotHero, but it asks for confirmation before completing sensitive actions such as purchases or social posts. Google says the security safeguards used on desktop apply.

Rollout begins in late June for U.S. devices meeting a 4 GB RAM minimum, with Android 12 as the oldest supported OS. By extending Gemini to Chrome on smartphones, Google aims to unify AI experiences across its ecosystem, giving users a consistent assistant whether they browse on a laptop or a pocket device. The move positions Chrome as a hub for generative AI tasks.
