Google Kills Pixel Studio AI App

Google has officially shut down Pixel Studio, its AI-powered image generation app, just two years after its launch. The app now redirects users to Gemini with a prominent "Open Gemini" button, marking the end of the Pixel-exclusive image creation tool. The software update that bricks Pixel Studio is rolling out currently.

Pixel Studio arrived alongside the Pixel 9 smartphone in 2024, allowing users to generate images from text prompts and create stickers from existing photos. Google announced plans to wind down the app in February and has progressively removed features, including stripping the photo editor of AI tools several months ago.

The transition suggests Google's focus has shifted to Nano Banana for image generation within its Gemini ecosystem. Users are now being guided toward this alternative as Pixel Studio joins other discontinued Google products in the company's "graveyard" of retired applications.
