Musician and retro tech enthusiast Chris Graue is sharing his method for capturing images of Jupiter with a Game Boy Camera. Graue previously made waves by connecting the vintage peripheral to the Hooker Telescope at the Mount Wilson Observatory using a custom 3D-printed adapter.

Now, Graue has released the schematics for the adapter online, allowing anyone with a 3D printer to replicate the setup. The adapter is described as a tube that pressure fits into a standard 1.25-inch telescope eyepiece. While a powerful telescope is needed to view Jupiter, the adapter can be used with the Game Boy Camera for other astrophotography or terrestrial subjects.

This release democratizes a unique blend of retro technology and modern astronomical observation. It follows a trend of creative repurposing for the Game Boy Camera, which has previously been modded into mirrorless cameras and webcams, demonstrating the enduring appeal and adaptability of vintage hardware for new applications.
