Elevation Lab's extended battery case for Apple's AirTag is on sale at Amazon for $16, down from its usual $23 price. This 30 percent discount offers a significant savings on a case that promises to extend the tracking device's battery life to as much as 10 years when paired with AA batteries. The case is sealed with four screws and carries an IP69 waterproof rating, providing enhanced protection for the AirTag.

While the case isn't ideal for everyday carry items like wallets or keys due to its bulk, it's particularly useful for tracking luggage or backpacks that you won't need to access frequently. Elevation Lab recommends using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries for optimal performance. The standard AirTag typically runs for over a year on its CR2032 button cell, making this extended battery case a compelling option for long-term tracking needs.

There are some trade-offs to consider. The AirTag's sound is muffled when inside the case, operating at about two-thirds the volume of an uncased device. However, the second-generation AirTag is louder than its predecessor, which helps mitigate this issue. The case's nondescript appearance also makes it less obvious that an item is being tracked, potentially deterring theft.
