Not all GameCubes are equal—ideally, you want a DOL-001 model with a Digital AV Out port. To identify yours, check the back panel for the Digital AV Out port or read the label on the bottom. The DOL-001 can connect via HDMI adapters like the Retro-Bit Prism HD Adapter, Carby from Insurrection Industries, or Bitfunx alternatives.

For DOL-101 models lacking Digital AV Out, devices like Retro TINK-2X Mini convert analog signals to HDMI. For best image quality, enable 480p progressive scan by holding the B button during boot on supported games. Many titles also support native widescreen output through their settings menus.

Alternatively, Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack offers emulated GameCube games at 900p resolution with online multiplayer support for compatible titles. As of August 2026, nine GameCube games are available, with two more coming. The Dolphin emulator also provides another option for playing GameCube games on modern TVs through PC or laptop connection.
