BYD, known for affordable EVs, is pushing the envelope with its Denza subbrand hypercar, the Denza Z. Debuted at Beijing Auto Show, the model boasts more than 1,000 horsepower from a single electric motor. Four‑seat layout and hard‑top, convertible, and track variants promise a versatile performance kit.

First revealed as a concept in Shanghai 2025, BYD confirmed the production version a year later. It will sport DiSus‑M intelligent suspension, echoing Corvette’s magnetic ride, and a Flash Charging system that halves recharge time. Autonomous driving and “tank turning” from the YangWang U9 will also appear.

Consumer impact is clear: BYD aims to make high‑performance electric cars more accessible than its limited‑run YangWang models. The Denza Z will debut in Europe first, with a test drive at Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. Pricing remains undisclosed, but the broader availability marks a shift toward mass‑market hypercars.

With a 0‑60 mph sprint in under two seconds, the Denza Z rivals rivals like Rimac Nivera. BYD’s strategy integrates cutting‑edge tech and a European launch to capture enthusiasts before the U.S. market. The move underscores a broader trend of Chinese automakers targeting global performance segments.
