Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote delivered the long-awaited Siri AI upgrade, marking what may be Tim Cook's final major developer conference before handing the CEO role to John Ternus in September. The revamped assistant, powered by Google's Gemini models and first teased in 2024, brings visual changes to Dynamic Island and a new swipe-down activation method in iOS 27.

Siri AI enables screen-aware actions through Visual Intelligence, allowing users to query content displayed on their devices. You can now ask the assistant to analyze photos, suggest recipes based on World Cup teams, or process documents with contextual awareness. The feature extends across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, CarPlay, and AirPods, though it launches initially in English only.

Liquid Glass design gets an opacity slider for user customization, while macOS Golden Gate introduces refreshed app icons and streamlined toolbars. Performance gains include up to 80 percent faster AirDrop transfers and 30 percent quicker app launches. Older iPhone users gain from CPU scheduler improvements supporting devices back to iPhone 11.

iCloud shared albums now sync full-resolution photos across Android and Windows, and Spotlight search receives underlying architectural upgrades for better speed and stability. These updates signal Apple's push toward deeper AI integration while addressing user feedback on its controversial design changes.
