Apple's Gemini‑Powered Siri Gets Dynamic Island Makeover

Apple is set to unveil a revamped Siri at WWDC 2026, replacing the aging voice assistant with a Gemini‑powered AI agent. The new interface will live inside the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, callable by saying “Siri” or holding the power button. Users can also swipe down from the top‑center to open a “Search or Ask” pane that blends existing iOS 26 search features with fresh AI suggestions.

The new pane keeps Siri Suggestions but adds shortcuts to open apps, send texts, create calendar events and search notes. Apple may allow third‑party models like ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini alongside its own, and a dedicated Siri app could appear on the home screen. In Camera, a refreshed visual mode replaces Visual Intelligence, offering reverse‑image lookup and AI‑driven photo analysis.

Photos will also receive “Reframe” and “Extend” tools that shift perspective or generate missing elements, mirroring features already on Android. By embedding a powerful AI assistant directly in core UI zones, Apple hopes to close the gap with rivals that have offered generative tools for years. The move signals a decisive shift toward on‑device AI that could reshape how users interact with iPhone services.
