Apple Trade-In Limits & Credit Guide

Even old Apple devices you haven’t touched in years could still get you some credit towards a new phone. The oldest iPhone you can trade in with Apple is the iPhone 8, released in 2017. You must indicate if it’s in Good or Damaged condition. In good shape, Apple offers a mere $35. Damaged units require more questions and may yield nothing.

Trade-in amounts are estimates that drop if conditions aren't described accurately. Newer models fetch higher credits, peaking at $720 for an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple also trades in iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, though Home Pods and AirPods only qualify for free recycling.

Switchers aren't left out. Apple accepts select Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and Huawei phones, but values depend on storage and generally lag behind first-party payouts. A 128GB Pixel 9 Pro earns $255, while a Pixel 6 Pro gets just $50. Selling elsewhere usually pays more, but if you want minimal effort to clear out old gadgets, this remains a viable option.
