Apple released the second developer beta of iOS 27 today, accompanied by matching builds for iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. The update builds on features shown at WWDC 2026, with a particular focus on expanding Siri’s role across the ecosystem. Developers can now install the beta to test the new capabilities ahead of the fall launch publicly.

The most visible change is Write with Siri, which replaces the old AI Writing Tools prompt on iPhone and iPad. A large banner appears above the keyboard inviting users to tap “Write with Siri”; once typing begins the banner collapses to a Siri icon. Additional today tweaks include faster response times and a preview label marking expressive‑voice features as “coming soon.”

The beta also adds RCS support to Messages, enabling reactions and inline replies for cross‑platform texts, a step toward tighter interoperability. macOS 27’s “Golden Gate” build improves iPhone mirroring after beta‑1 issues, and AirPods Max 2 receive a firmware update pathway. As developers probe these changes, the final release will likely cement Siri’s deeper integration across Apple’s hardware stack for users.
