Anthropic launches Claude Tag AI for Slack

Anthropic rolled out a research‑preview of Claude Tag for Slack, positioning it as a replacement for the platform’s native Slackbot. Users can summon the assistant by typing @Claude, and the bot maintains a single, channel‑wide identity that any member can invoke. Its always‑on design lets conversations pick up where the last user left off, reducing the need for repeated context. It integrates with Slack workflows.

Claude Tag learns from the workflow of each channel, gradually requiring fewer explanations. When admins enable “ambient” mode, the assistant can proactively push relevant updates drawn from other parts of the organization, and even follow up on stalled tasks. Access to sensitive data is tightly scoped; admins assign specific tools and repositories per channel, preventing cross‑team leakage and respects privacy policies.

Currently the feature is limited to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers in the preview, with broader rollout planned later. By embedding a persistent, organization‑aware AI directly into Slack, Anthropic aims to streamline internal communications and reduce reliance on ad‑hoc bots. Enterprises that adopt Claude Tag will see fewer hand‑offs and faster information flow across departments.
