This tutorial guides you through adding an official website tag to a nearby shop or amenity in OpenStreetMap (OSM) in under 15 minutes. Once a place has a website tag, it becomes easier to determine other helpful info like phone, opening_hours, and email. The process uses JOSM, the Java OSM editor app.

First, create a free OSM account and confirm your email. Then download and run JOSM. Download OSM data for a small area of interest using Ctrl+Shift+↓, and filter the data to show shops and amenities without a website using the query: name=* ((amenity=* "addr:housenumber"=*) | shop=*) -website=* -"contact:website"=*.

Next, install the Website Wizard plugin via JOSM Preferences. Use it to search for the official website of a place, copy the URL, and save it. Finally, upload your changeset with a brief comment.
