Smart Home & Home View
Apple unveiled its Home View smart display, pre-orderable today for $299, with a wall-mounted variant also in the lineup. Apple has published estimated repair costs for the device, and buyers of the wall model should note that a 20W USB-C adapter is required, while the mount itself is sold separately at a minimum of $59. The device lacks VESA support, narrowing third-party mount options, and it will not launch in the EU due to regulatory disputes. Apple also introduced the Apple Home Collection, developed with LG and Schneider Electric, spanning cameras, locks and thermostats.
Among the notable features, Home View can dim to Apple's lowest-ever display brightness and runs third-party apps streamed from an iPhone or iPad, though critics note its lack of an App Store is a drawback. Some AI features require an iPhone or iPad, and facial recognition works on-device. Apple also highlighted five privacy features, and ADT will offer in-home installation.
Apple TV 4K & Siri Remote
Apple released a new Apple TV 4K powered by an A19 chip, and the 128GB model now starts at $299. The redesigned Siri Remote costs $59 and can also be purchased for existing Apple TV 4K units. The device adds far-field microphones for hands-free Siri, and four HomePods can be paired for surround sound, a feature available only with the new model. Older models will gain Siri AI support, including a five-year-old unit, with compatibility detailed here. Reviewers were mixed on value, with one calling the Apple TV hobby far too expensive.
Home Pod mini 2
Apple announced the Home Pod mini 2 at $149, adding Siri AI, Sound Glow and four-speaker surround options, along with new colors. However, Siri AI will not arrive at launch, a point Apple confirmed directly. The speaker can work as a default Mac speaker with select Macs. Questions remain about whether the full-sized Home Pod will gain Siri AI as well.
Software Betas: iOS 27.2 & mac OS 27.2
Apple seeded the fourth developer betas of iOS 27.2, mac OS Golden Gate 27.2, watch OS, and vision OS, with iPadOS 27.2 and tvOS updates arriving alongside. The fourth iOS beta added a new Apple Music icon, but it removed the overhauled Health app, which appears to be delayed. Beta 4 also brought black-and-white Apple Music styling and broader design updates. The mac OS 27.2 fourth beta is now available, and AirPods beta firmware also shipped for several models, including Air Pods Pro. Apple released second RCs for mac OS Sequoia 15.8.2 and Tahoe 26.7.2, while the upcoming iPhone Duo will ship with a day-one iOS 27.1 update.
Legal & Corporate
