The hit Apple TV comedy "Ted Lasso," initially thought to conclude after three seasons, is returning for a fourth, with star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis expressing hopes for a fifth and sixth season. The new season, premiering August 5, 2026, sees Ted coaching a second-division women's football team.

Apple has not yet commissioned a fifth season, but Sudeikis aims to reunite writers in late August to develop ideas for subsequent seasons, envisioning another three-season arc. He revealed that unused ideas from the original season four concept exist. Despite previously stating the story was complete and rejecting offers exceeding $1 million per episode for continuation, Sudeikis was inspired by fan feedback and the show's positive impact.

Sudeikis, along with co-creator Brendan Hunt, explored the possibility of more seasons, eventually developing a new premise that interested Apple TV. While the production faced some scheduling delays and "come to Jesus" Zoom calls, it reportedly stayed under budget, partly due to fewer football scenes. Some original cast members will not appear in the new story, a decision Sudeikis personally communicated to each actor.
