Eddy Cue hints at Ted Lasso's fifth season

Apple TV’s first true hit, the comedy “Ted Lasso,” was intended to finish forever after its third season. But it was revived for a fourth, which is getting mixed but generally good reviews, and Apple is hinting that the show will continue.

Jason Sudeikis, the star and co‑creator, has publicly said he wants two more seasons and is gathering the writers for a second run. Eddy Cue, Apple TV senior vice president, echoed that sentiment, saying “I hope so, it’s certainly good enough for that. So I think there’s plenty of stories to go on. We’ll show up. No worries.”

The company’s approach is typical: apprent two seasons at launch, then announce renewals only after the first season’s success, keeping cast and crew locked in for a three‑year contract that satisfies both the network and the performers. With the new contract in place, the probability of a fifth season and perhaps a sixth is high, sending a clear signal that “Ted Lasso” will likely stay on Apple TV for the foreseeable future.

The back‑to‑back seasons have kept audiences engaged, and the show’s positive critical reception has sparked demand for more content. Apple’s strategy of announcing renewals only after a season’s release allows the platform to generate buzz and secure the series’ future without committing too early.
