KiiBoom Cybrix 16 Review: 16 Keys, 3 Knobs, Mac Software Fail

The KiiBoom Cybrix 16 is a compact 16-key mechanical keyboard with three knobs designed as a productivity and gaming accessory. While the hardware feels premium with its CNC aluminum case and hot-swappable switches, the lack of proper Mac OS software support severely limits its appeal for Apple users. The keyboard arrives well-packaged with quality components including a USB-C to USB-A cable and 22 additional switches.

The Cybrix 16 offers deep customization through VIA software and JSON files, but this workaround is cumbersome compared to KiiBoom's excellent Mac driver for the larger Cybrix 29 model. Users can program keys, adjust RGB lighting, and create multiple function layers, though the process requires technical knowledge that casual users may find intimidating. The keyboard's small 5.35x3.5-inch footprint makes it ideal for minimalist setups, and the south-facing LEDs provide subtle mood lighting.

Despite solid build quality and responsive performance in both productivity tasks and gaming, the KiiBoom Cybrix 16 earns only 2.5 out of 5 stars due to its software limitations. At $67.99 on KiiBoom's website or $71.99 on Amazon, it's not an impulse purchase, and the lack of wireless connectivity or Mac driver makes it hard to recommend when better alternatives exist in KiiBoom's own lineup.
