iOS 27 Find My Adds Granular Location Controls and Landscape View

Apple's Find My app in iOS 27 brings practical updates that extend beyond cosmetic changes. Users gain more precise control over location sharing with four distinct timing options, plus a Custom setting that allows scheduling down to the minute. These changes address real-world scenarios where temporary location hiding makes sense.

The app adopts iOS 27's Liquid Glass design language with increased translucency, refreshed icons, and a circular Plus button. Tab navigation now uses intuitive symbols: two busts for People, an AirTag icon for Items, and a map pin for Me. Most notably, Find My now supports landscape orientation, displaying maps in wider view while keeping items listed in a sidebar column.

Location sharing timing options include For One Hour, For Today, Always, and Custom settings ranging from 15 minutes to 30 days. Users can specify exact end dates and times, with automatic notifications when sharing expires. The new Hide Location feature temporarily conceals your position from specific contacts without breaking the sharing connection.

This approach differs from completely stopping location sharing, offering a graceful way to maintain surprise for birthdays or events. Family Sharing location tracking remains unchanged, requiring parents to know which device family members carry. The updates reflect Apple's focus on practical privacy controls over flashy new features.
