iOS 27 Beta 2 Adds Apple TV Updates, Wallet Insights and Drops Air Port Utility

Apple released iOS 27 beta 2 two weeks after WWDC 2026, adding new options for Home and Wallet. The update lets users update a connected Apple TV the same way they update HomePod devices. Apple also drops the Air Port Utility app from the App Store, a move that signals a shift in its home‑network focus.

In the Home app, the Updates section now lists Apple TVs, letting users tap Update to push firmware over‑the‑air. Meanwhile, Wallet gains an Insights screen that promises spending analytics, recurring‑transaction alerts, and balance snapshots. Apple stresses the feature relies on a wholly owned subsidiary to fetch data, never storing user info.

Other tweaks include a subtler Siri cursor, a new Write‑with‑Siri keyboard shortcut, and persistent media controls on the lock screen. RCS messaging in Messages now supports specific replies and visible Android reactions. These refinements aim to smooth daily interactions, though the Wallet Insights feature remains inactive until a later beta or the public release in September 2026.

With beta 2, Apple tightens its ecosystem, offering more streamlined device management while teasing financial analytics that could reshape how users track spending. The removal of Air Port Utility hints at a broader shift toward cloud‑based network tools, positioning Apple to focus resources on newer HomeKit integrations.
